Large Kosher Mezuzah Scroll (Klaf) — 15 cm Ashkenaz, Handwritten with Certificate
The scroll is the mezuzah. This is the large one — a 15 cm (6") klaf, handwritten in Israel by a qualified sofer (scribe) on Shelil calf-hide parchment in the Ashkenaz script tradition, containing the Shema (Deuteronomy 6:4–9) and V'haya (Deuteronomy 11:13–21).
This is the scroll our enamel cases take. The Keren Kopal mezuzah cases we carry are built for a 14 cm scroll, and our standard klaf only runs to 12 cm — which would sit loose inside them. If you bought one of those cases, this is the scroll that belongs in it. For smaller or standard cases, see our 7–12 cm Ashkenaz klaf.
The three grades, explained honestly. All three are 100% kosher and carry the same ten-year warranty certificate. The difference is scribal craftsmanship, not validity:
- Basic — meets the halachic requirements in full. A real mezuzah, properly written.
- Standard (upgraded) — a more advanced level of scribal work.
- Mehudar — the highest level: script especially pleasing to the eye, as befits such a holy item.
Every scroll is proofread letter by letter by an expert and then computer-checked for missing or additional letters. A printed insert or a photocopy is not a mezuzah — the commandment requires a handwritten scroll, which is why a real one costs what a real one costs.
- Handwritten by a certified sofer in Israel — kashrut certificate and ten-year warranty included
- Ashkenaz script; 15 cm / 6"
- Blessing and mounting instructions included; wrapped in protective covering
