If someone asks you what Messianic Judaism actually is and you want to hand them one book, this is the book.

Rudolph and Willitts assembled Messianic Jewish scholars and synagogue leaders alongside Gentile Christian theologians — Mark Kinzer, Richard Bauckham, Markus Bockmuehl, Craig Keener, Darrell Bock and others — which makes it unusual in the field. The opening essays come from inside the movement and are honest about its tensions rather than promotional. The second half works through the biblical and theological questions the movement raises for the wider church.

It is academic in tone but not impenetrable. Expect to read it slowly.
