Sitting at the Feet of Rabbi Jesus — Spangler & Tverberg

The book most people are handed first, and for good reason. Spangler and Tverberg walk through Yeshua's world as a first-century Jewish rabbi would have lived it — the Shabbat table, the rhythms of the festival year, the way a rabbi taught and the way disciples followed.

What it does well is make familiar passages strange again. Sayings you have heard a hundred times turn out to be arguments in a rabbinic form you did not know existed, or references to a feast nobody translated for you.

It is written for someone who has never thought about this before, and it does not require any Hebrew.
